Dashing through the Snow

Oil Painting "Winter Longhorns" by artist Randy Follis

"Dashing through the Snow"

In the two horse covered chuckwagon
We're dashing through the snow
these steers all seem to be lagging
while up the cattle trail we go
Spurs and dinner Bell ring
Making spirits bright
Pistol holster and rifle sling
I'll be watching cattle tonight

Oh, jingle bobs and dinner bell
sourdough cooked all the way
Oh, what fun it is to ride
with all this dust and hay-aye'
Jingle bobs, Dinner bell
Beans and biscuits on the way
Oh, what fun it is to ride
and a bedroll where my head can lay

A month or two ago
I started this cattle drive
Now dreaming of Miss Fanny Bright
Was seated by my side
The horses were lean and lank
Misfortune seemed our lot
We got into a drifted bank
And I woke up on the spot.

Oh, jingle bobs and dinner bell
sourdough cooked all the way
Oh, what fun it is to ride
with all this dust and hay-aye'
Jingle bobs, Dinner bell
Beans and biscuits on the way
Oh, what fun it is to ride
and a bedroll where my head can lay

Jingle bobs and dinner bell
Jingle these spurs all the way
Oh, what fun it is to ride
On the chuckwagon all the way
