The King Ranch cowboys will be on hand to perform team roping as other volunteers will exhibit horseshoeing, rawhide braiding, Chuck Wagon Cooking demonstrations, Cowboy poetry, story telling and some authentic country fiddle playing music on stage while Mariachis play music and sing songs of the Spanish culture. Longhorn and Santa Gertrudis cattle and King Ranch Quarter Horses are in the near by corrals for public viewing too.
The main entrance to King Ranch and the site of the breakfast is on the west side of Kingsville, Texas on Highway 141. Breakfast Tickets: ages 4 and up $6.00 – ages 3 and under FREE!
Joining the Los Cosineros Del Campo chuck wagon this year are two special visitors. Omar Alvarez, President of the International Dutch Oven Society has won many awards competing in Dutch Oven Cooking events including the 2008 National Championship, along with numerous BBQ and chili cook off events through the years. Omar, today resides in Utah although is a native Texan who grew up in Kingsville. Omar also was a special feature in Cowboys and Chuckwagon Cooking in February 2012.
Along with Omar, renown cook Lesley Kershaw Tennessen from McHenry, Illinois is also a dutch oven expert. Often called the Dutch Oven Diva, Lesley has been a guess bloggers with several web sites including "News from the Trail", "Cowboys and Chuckwagon Cooking" and "Round the Chuckbox." Lesley also performs numerous food demonstration across the nation when not competing or judging during the many dutch oven gatherings.
